“Tsar Simeon 1898” swept the medals at the track championship

The open Winter National Individual and Team Track Cycling Championship for junior and senior-junior men and elite men was held at the Kolodrum hall in Plovdiv. The event is part of the official calendar of the Bulgarian Cycling Federation. Besides the annual disciplines, the spectacular keirin was included in the competition for the first time. National and club teams from all the Balkan countries, the Czech Republic and Germany took part in the open championship. Our national team rider Nikolay Genov and his teammates from the cycling club CC “Tsar Simeon 1898” decisively swept the honours at this championship. Nikolay Genov won 4 gold medals, 1 silver and 1 bronze. Our experienced rider finished first without question in the omnium, points race, elimination race and the 4 km individual pursuit, second in the 4 km team pursuit and third in the tempo race. In the 4 km individual pursuit for elite men Genov set the third-best time in the history of Bulgarian cycling, just 6 seconds off the Bulgarian record. His teammate Konstantin Marinkov won gold in the scratch race, and overall CC “Tsar Simeon 1898” finished first in the team standings.
