The National Competition for Young Performers of Popular Song was held for the 17th year running. The competition is part of the Ministry of Education and Science’s National Calendar of Interest-Based Activities, and its final was held at the Orfey Summer Cinema. The main organiser and host is the Centre for Personal Development Support - Regional Children’s Centre (CPLR-ODK) Plovdiv, with the assistance of Plovdiv Municipality. The first stage of the competition featured more than 250 children - 143 soloists, 11 duets and 15 vocal groups from 19 regions of Bulgaria. 63 children and young people from across the country were admitted to the final round, divided into four age groups in the soloist category only. The performances in both stages are judged by a competent jury of established Plovdiv musicians, singers, actors, choreographers, teachers at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts (AMTII) and Paisiy Hilendarski University of Plovdiv, and producers.
