Over 300 firefighters from across the country compete in the National Fire Sport Championship
More than 300 firefighters from across the country took an active part in the National Fire Sport Review. It is being held for the 48th time, from 30 September to 2 October, at the Plovdiv athletics stadium next to the Rowing Canal. The teams in the competition come from the Fire Safety and Population Protection Faculty of the Academy of the Ministry of the Interior and from the 29 regional Fire Safety and Population Protection directorates in the country. The Plovdiv firefighters are also supported at this year’s edition, attended by Commissioner Nikolay Nikolov, Director of the Chief Directorate for Fire Safety and Population Protection, deputy mayor Georgi Tityukov, regional governor Dani Kanazireva and the directors of the regional directorates, by the volunteer unit “Plovdiv 112”.
The firefighters compete in four disciplines:
- Assault ladder climb, reaching in turn the second, third and fourth floors of a tower with a maximum climbing height of 10.85 metres;
- 100-metre obstacle course, in which competitors must clear a two-metre obstacle, cross an 8-metre beam, unroll a hose, and couple it to a branch and the nozzle;
- 4x100-metre fire relay with obstacles - a team discipline that demonstrates speed, agility, presence of mind, teamwork, professional skill and mastery;
- combat deployment from a motor pump - a team discipline with seven participants.
