Grill master Uti kicked off Charity Week
A charity culinary academy under the auspices of Plovdiv Municipality was held in Stefan Stambolov Square in the city centre on Saturday, 30 September 2017. The renowned chef Uti Bachvarov opened the culinary fiesta, and the highlight of the event was the biggest barbecue. 1,500 tasty, fresh burgers, served with a free bottle of Bachkovo spring water, were prepared by volunteers, while Uti showed his masterly skills at the grill. Cooking contests, an attractive programme and plenty of surprises delighted the people of Plovdiv. The whole culinary theatre was organised so that everything happened before the eyes of the audience, to show that the magic of food lies in tasty ingredients. With his big smile, Uti kept spirits high and whetted the audience’s appetite. The money raised from the sale of the burgers goes to support a noble cause: keeping the Centre for Children with Autism running. Everyone who bought a burger donated BGN 3 to the good cause. Besides the fun and the enjoyment of tasty food and drink, the people of Plovdiv showed that there is no greater joy than helping others and doing good.
