In Plovdiv’s special 2019 we are once again sponsors of OPERA OPEN
OPERA OPEN at the Ancient Theatre in Plovdiv is a multi-genre platform “open” to opera, ballet, operetta, musical and modern dance. The summer programme, with a tradition of more than 30 years, features strong international participation of soloists, directors, conductors and choreographers from the biggest opera houses in the world. OPERA OPEN develops large-scale international tourism and is part of the programme of Plovdiv - European Capital of Culture 2019. The festival programme of OPERA OPEN in 2019 will be packed with guest performances by world-famous names. The Ancient Theatre will meet the audience with the universal artist Stefano Poda in June. The premiere of his “Orpheus and Eurydice” will combine baroque works about the mythical singer with signs of the city’s ancient heritage, with Thracian myths and ritual initiations, with the ethnic groups of many-faced Plovdiv. Another side of the refined Italian director will remind us of the European production by Teatro Regio di Parma and Opera Plovdiv, “The Force of Destiny”. Two of the most popular classical titles - “Rigoletto” by Verdi in a new production and “Swan Lake” by Tchaikovsky with soloists from the Bolshoi Theatre - are the highlights of the July programme; that is also when the world-famous tenor José Cura will perform his signature role in Verdi’s “Otello”. OPERA OPEN will continue in August with repeats of the summer premieres - “Orpheus” and “Rigoletto” - as well as an international Ballet Gala with excerpts from popular ballets. To satisfy audiences with a sense of tradition, OPERA OPEN will close with Verdi’s “Aida”. The mission of “Nova Trade” is to support the development of diverse and valuable art and culture. Our long-term strategy is built on the idea of supporting a large part of the events in our country’s cultural calendar.
